GROUP PROJECT

Project One

In this assignment, we will be conversant and expected to understand the definition of the sustainable city, the word sustainability has come into such common usage that it sometimes seems ubiquitous. At the outset, this leads to the need to answer two principal questions with regards to niche of sustainable cities in a local context. First, what is a sustainable city? And secondly, why is it important that cities become sustainable? In a group of 4, we are required to choose a and to appraise the existing sustainable qualities in the city planning/model/framework. Then, we must describe the appraisal of the selected sustainable city model/framework and present through ppt slides  .

Outcome

Reflection

It is my first time knowing there are four types of infrastructure. As it is a group project, I selected Red Infrastructure for Mumbai and Tokyo. I have never looked into a city deeply until this assignment. It was hard at first because it seems directionless in what I am searching on, however it got into a fun learning process as I focus on a specific issue. It was quite addicting when one question leads to another and being revealed one after another through research. Understanding the cities and their unique character teaches me to view cities at another perspective. To mention one is a city’s weakness can be another city’s strength. Often, the solution we are all looking for can be taking advantage of the issue or weakness itself, instead of avoiding it. Admittedly, while doing my research, it is sad to realized that I have little knowledge on cities. This assignment is a good start for me to discover more and deep about cities and how they are related to the inhabitants.
